
Our classes for preschool age children are a great way to get your young one active and teach him or her the fundamentals of swimming and water safety.
These classes teach important safety skills and water enjoyment through the use of songs and engaging activities. Learn more information about each of our classes below.
Age - 3-4 years old

4 students per class maximum
The Starfish class is specifically designed for 3-4 year-olds that are apprehensive and cannot yet hold their breath comfortably underwater. A maximum of four children are enrolled in each class.
The Starfish class is an introduction to the basic skills necessary for swimming. We work on gradual water adaptation, movement in the water, breath holding and release, submersions of the face, opening eyes underwater, blowing bubbles, bobbing with bubbles and air exchange while kicking. Swimmers gain water confidence, master submerging their face in the water and taking a relaxed breath. Swimmers advance when they achieve 10 relaxed bobs. We also introduce back floats, kicking and BIG SMILES!

(Happy in the water)
Appropriate for beginning swimmers age 3-4 years who are not yet comfortable putting
their face in the water. General goal is for each participant to be happy in the pool
environment, putting whole face in the water and blowing bubbles.

(Blowing bubbles)
Appropriate for swimmers age 3-4 years who are comfortable in the water and have mastered
face submersion with bubbles. General goals are rhythmic breath exchange, comfort on back,
comfortable independent underwater exploration.

(Floating)
Appropriate for swimmers age 3-4 years who are comfortable underwater and can perform 10
relaxed bobs. General goals include: Independent, balanced and relaxed front and back floats;
lifesaving skill of jumping or falling in and rolling onto back to a stable, extended float;
rhythmic relaxed wall bobs, propulsive, efficient front and back kicking.

(Moving through the water)
Appropriate for swimmers age 3-4 years who have mastered the rollover skill with kicking
and front somersaults and can jump in and float, then rollover and kick to the wall.General
goals include jumping bobs, horizontal rollovers-back to front and front to back, retrieve
object from the bottom of pool 4 ft., sitting bobs, beginning freestyle, dolphin kick and
elementary backstroke.

(Continuous breathing)
Appropriate for swimmers age 3-4 years who can comfortably swim elementary backstroke,
crawl stroke 15 ft. (no breathing). General goals include side kicking (freestyle
breathing position), mastering freestyle with rollover breathing (15 ft.) and comfortably
swimming 30 feet on back.

(Now I'm swimming)
Appropriate for swimmers age 3-4 years who have mastered freestyle and elementary
backstroke. General goals include mastering circle swimming, swimming 30ft. freestyle
with rollover breathing, butterfly and breaststroke kicks with board and treading water.
